Die Band Marbert Rocel veröffentlich am 20.Juli die Remix Ep Compost Black Label 88 auf dem Label Compost. Als Remixer für diese EP standen dabei Daniel Stefanik, Jacob Korn, Osunlade und Klincke Auf Chinch bereit.

Diese Remix EP kann man getrost zu den Sommerhit Kandidaten dieses Jahres zählen. Gerade Daniel Stefanik´s Remix von Small Hours ist ein absoluter Peaktime Tanzflächenfüller mit seiner dunklen Jackin House-Synthie-Bassline, schön lange gab es nicht mehr so einen starken Track von Stefanik. Stark wie sich hier das Break aufbaut und man am Ende des Breaks einfach nur noch die Hände hochreißen will mit einem breiten Grinsen im Gesicht. Der Jacob Korn ist genau das Gegenteil vom Stefanik Remix, ein bezaubernder und liebvoll entspannter Deep House Track in dem ganz viel Liebe steckt. Osunlade´s Remix von let´s take off ist sehr funky geraten und am Ende der EP wird es mit dem Klincke Auf Chinch Remix von I Wanna nochmal richtig deep.
Fazit:
Schöne EP die zu den Kandidaten für einen Sommerhit gezählt werden muss.

Marbert Rocel, the East German indie pop’n’jazz sensation and live band just brought their third album “Small Hours” to life, capturing a deep sense for beats, smoking, songs, indie pop trips including leftfield house- and jazzy affairs. As Groove magazine wrote “...an album finally progressed their own stunning charm into a higher sphere of danceable indie pop”. Well, it’s true, Marbert Rocel music is light and sunny, but they working hard with patience, belief, a lot of cigarettes, and dozens of live gigs around Europe, to spread their charm with passion and a wicked glints in their eyes. There is this lack of pretention in their music which everybody loves, actually people from the techno, soul, jazz or pop worlds even all seems to be convinced.
Now we are embarking with the first remix package of their third album:
Starting with Daniel Stefanik propeller tech tune, a monster of the month. Over the last years, he produced a lot of different records on diverse labels: Kann, Freude am Tanzen, Cocoon Records or Cargo Edition. And don ́t forget his numerous remixes with the completely special „Stefanik-Style". 2009 he united with Sven Tasnadi and Stefan Schultz (Juno6) to provide their home base Leipzig, and to create the Label: Oh Yeah Records. Daniel is currently working on his second album, which will be released on Cocoon Records in 2012.
Secondly, Jacob Korn from Leipzig recently approved his seductive feel of deep house again and again. So if you take look to his career and followe his releases and remixes, you can’t deny that he is one of the men of 2012.
Osunlade is one of those established entrepreneurs and deep house dons who won`t need any further introduction. His “Envision” track went straight into nearly all “best of “-top ten of 2011. He was really digging Marbert Rocel’s productions, so he came up with compliments, roses and this awesome groovy remix. Available as an instrumental version on vinyl while the vocal version is available as download.
Last but not least Klinke Auf Cinch, a collective consisting of Clemens Kynast and Lutz Hartmann from Jena, Germany, who are living close to that place, where Marbert Rocel are smoking. They deliver an aromatic airy deephouse tune. Together they produce a mixture between slower house, faster jazz, reduced pop and harmonised minimal. On their live performances, they always surprise with changing vocalists, gifted soloists and different musicians.

Der Remixtitel von den Adana Twins "Pop is not dead" trifft es eigentlich am besten um diese EP zu beschreiben. Angesichts solcher Releases ist Pop schon lange nicht mehr so stark gewesen. Ein verdammt groovendes Monster ist das Original geworden, eine gelungene Verschmelzung von Deep House, Pop und Acid House der 90er Jahre ist dieser Track geworden. Tomorrow fällt zwar leider nicht ganz so stark aus aber hat durchaus seinen Charme. Großartig ist die treffende Bezeichnung für den Adana Twins Remix und oben drauf gibt es noch einen bezaubernden techy Deep House Remix von Marcin Czubala.
Fazit:
Großer Wurf des noch jungen Labels aus Polen.

Having taken a trip to the UK for release number 004, Marcin Czubala's Your Mama's Friend heads back to its native Poland, to catch up with label regulars, Viadrina.
Konrad Slazyk and Mateusz Kazula are the fresh-faced pair hailing from the banks of the River Odra. Having made a crushing impact with their debut release, the 'Better EP' earlier this year on Pets Recordings, Viadrina have been working away tirelessly in the studio refining and polishing their sounds and skills. An endearing innocence can be heard in their music and their versatile, warm and uplifting style is immediately attractive to the ear. Matching that aural lure with an impressive and mature use of 'bass' has seen them create some of the smoothest and funkiest tracks of recent times.
Their "Shining" ep, the label's second release, is still one their most popular to date. Today the duo unveil their latest work, "Popsong" / "Tomorrow". The A side sees Viadrina dropping some 80's break-beats, warm R&B vocals, wrapped in a warm layer of bass. On the flip "Tomorrow" drops its silky vocal, handclaps and gorgeous synths before again being bedded by their subby bassline. Label chief Marcin Czubala delivers his vision of "Tomorrow", brilliantly bringing together some Motown'esque drums and percussion with modern uplifting synth chords. Heute erschienen auf OFF Recordings erschienen ist die neue EP von Andre Crom, Reality heißt diese und enthält neben den beiden Original Tracks Reality und Hynotizing, Remixe von Dusky und Homework.

Nach Andre Crom´s starkem Track auf der letzten OFF Spin, macht er genau da weiter wo er aufgehört hat. Reality ist ein grooves Monster mit dominanten Synthie Bass und 90er Jahre Vocal. Der Track bleibt auf jeden Fall schnell im Kopf hängen. Dusky verwandelt Reality in ein richtigen 90er Jahre Acid House Track mit etwas mehr Feuer und einer aufregenden Acid Hook. Hypnothizing im Original ist ähnlich wie Reality, ein wahres Synthie Monster, groovig und sommerlich gut gelaunt. Der Holländer Homework macht aus seiner Interpretation einen herrlich entspannten Track mit bezaubernder Melodie. Wie immer am ende des Artikels findet ihr die passenden Vidoes des Releases.
Fazit:
Ein wirklich starkes Release vom Berliner Andre Crom.

Monoton, minimal, precussive, groovig, toolig der Track Approaching Dawn vereint das komplette Programm, dabei schiebt sich der Subbass so groovig stark vor sich hin, dass dieser einem förmlich dazu auffordert zu tanzen, toolig wie der Track ist macht es mit Sicherheit Spaß diesen Track im Mix laufen zu lassen. Octaves schlägt im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes Stück für Stück die Octaven, Chicago House der besten Sorte, monoton und hypnotisch.
Fazit:

Danish producer Martinez has always had a certain way with bass. His debut Cadenza EP 'Mzuzu' in 2011 featured two cuts built around a pulsating heart of bass, and here on his second Cadenza EP he plays with the intoxicating frequency again, but this time it's dirtier, funkier and housier.
If 'Mzuzu Chant' and 'Adagio' were fuel injected by bass, 'Approaching Dawn' and 'Octaves' are pure bass symphonies. The tracks remind us that, whilst bass in its raw form can be an effective blunt instrument for knocking a dancefloor senseless, when it is carefully crafted into a melody, it becomes something more potent: it gets inside your head. After all, if you want to shake the foundations of a club to the ground, you might as well do it with style.
The first track 'Approaching Dawn' features loose house rhythms and short samples on loop. The whole rhythm structure is free spirited, like a smokey percussion outfit who don't mind dropping out of time occasionally if it means they can sneak in another puff of ganja. When the bass melody hits early on in the track, it doesn't let go, forever rolling through its notes like a broken escalator that rises up four steps before dropping you back down those same four steps. Yet despite the repetition, its a ride you don't want to jump off.
With hi hat sprinkles and congo rattles providing added energy, 'Approaching Dawn' has a wild tribal feel at times, but its ground shaking bassline gives it an urban rave vibe. It conjures up the memory of a gritty London or Berlin warehouse rattling into the night. As the track progresses, the bassline remains in tact, like a solid and reliable clock, leaving the beats free to run undisciplined into a happy mess.
The aptly titled second track 'Octaves' features a very low frequency bass melody that acts as a musical counterpoint to some warm pad chords that play an octave or two above, guiding the track elegantly like the captain of ship propelled by his rowers below.
There's a lot of speed in the bass at times, yet there is little aggression in its overall direction as the soft pads above wrap it in a warm Detroit-esque blanket. There's a deep joy to be found amongst Martinez' smart changes in pace and tone here. With its few simple elements, 'Octaves' manages to construct an absorbing dancefloor story that leave you on the edge of your seat.

Das Release fällt für Crosstown Rebels typisch aus und wird der erste von 2 Teilen sein die das Label veröffentlicht. Tiefe, schon fast düstere, melancholische Stimmung umhült das Original von Just An Illusion und irgendwie kommen hat der Track ziemlich starke Ähnichkeit mit Every Minute Alone von Who Made Who. Der Franck Roger Remix ist zwar perkussiver geworden, allerdings nimmt er durch seine Interpretation dem Track auch diesen mysteriösen, melancholischen Touch.
Fazit:
Wieder eine typische Crosstown Rebels Veröffentlichung, von der der Original Track aber dennoch positiv auffällt.

Das Release wurde mir als Hit angekündigt, natürlich ist man da besonders gespannt. Beim hören von Daniel Dexters Today stellt man aber sehr schnell fest woher diese Begeisterung für das Release kommt. Ganz harmlos fängt es an und dann setzt dieses Saxophone ein zuerst fällig entspannt um dann im einsetzenden Break den Track richtig loszulassen. Tolle Stimmung die der Track ab dieser Stelle bekommt. Der Animal Trainer Remix von Today ist wesentlich elektronischer als das Original, wärmer und flächiger fällt dieser Track aus. Der Remix von Audiojack für Work Your Body ist genau das, was die Jungs am besten können tiefer, groover Jack'in Deep House, sehr schön anzuhören wie sie mit dem tiefen pumpenden Bass und dem anschlagen Riff spielen, Work Your Body im Original fällt dabei etwas entspannter im Gesamtbild aus.
Fazit:
Daniel Dexters Today und der Audiojack Remix von Work Your Body sind absolute Garanten um diesen Sommer die Open Air hoch und runter zu laufen.

This one starts out with a pumping chicago bass and is driven pitched black vocals and swirling Rhode chords. No doubt you will end up with a feeling of standing in a warehouse back in the infamous nights when the Roland TR 808 and 909 gives off clouds of smoke. Daniel Dexter managed to create a gentle and subtle tribute to heroes like Lil Louis, Adonis or Steve Silk Hurley giving the track an advanced touch by turning it into a mélange with modern UK sound.

B2. Work Your Body (Audiojack Remix)
We knew that Audiojack is always a sure shot but this time they outdid themselves. They boys from the industrial allyes of Leeds made a killer track topping understated coolness with hard drums and short crisp synthie steps that pierce your brain, two goose bump moments included that will keep you wanting to just go “yippeah yeah!!!” over and over again.

B1. Today (Original Mix)
Daniel Dexter, well-known for his expressive productions, presents this classical piece of house music that has one undeniable influence: Jazz. The sample might evocate a 90s Hip Hop feeling, reminding of that summer of our youth when girls still tasted like ice cream and music still came out of your portable ghettoblasters. But combining very earthy old school drums with the sax playing its intriguing twirling melody, Dexter’s focus on the pure essentials gives the track an inimitable contemporary sophistication.

B2. Today (Animal Trainer Remix)
Who could put warmth into a track with long stretched bass sounds better than a Swiss? That’s why we have Animal Trainer straight out of Zurich aboard, emphasizing the track’s laid back summery feeling by accompanying it with lots of ear tickling tinkling, dreamy synthie pads, and hand made drums. It all builds up, little by little, towards the ultimate break that will put you to the state of complete madness.

NM2_015 - Sante - Protection (incl. Lula Circus, Hrdvsion Remixes)

Santé wurde kürzlich mit einem Track auf der neuesten Cocoon Compilation ausgezeichnet, heißt aber noch lange nicht, dass dieser sich ausruht. Am 21.Mai auf Noir Music erschienen ist nun seine neue EP Protection mit Remixen von Lula Circus und Hrdvsion.

Ungewohnt für ein Release von Santé fällt dieses aus allerdings, ungewohnt heißt nicht immer etwas schlechtes, denn immerhin trifft er mit seinem Track Protection genau den Stil von Noir Music. Liebvoll, deep und poppig fällt das Original aus aber immernoch mit genügend Power um auf der Tanzefläche als Bombe zu funktionieren, dafür sorgt die dominante Kick in dem Track. Im Lula Circus Remix, fällt Protection zwar nahe dem Original aus, allerdings hat der Track wesentlich mehr Groove durch seinen angenehmen Synthie. Der Hrdvsion Remix ist der ruhigste Track der EP fasst schon minimal und toolig prägt er seine Interpretation.
Fazit:
Ein Release auf Noir Music klingt eben nach Noir, das Label schafft es konsequent und erfolgreich seine Linie zu halten. Das Original und auch der Lula Circus sind die Favoriten auf dem Release.

Am 18.Mai war Erscheinungsdatum für Ornette Crazy auf Get Physical. Enthalten auf der EP sind das Original Crazy und die Remixe von Nôze, Phonique, Get Physical Newcomer Nick und Lopazz.

Nôze's elegant Body Language Mix von Crazy kennt man bereits von der Body Language 11 und ist einer der Tracks von denen man nicht genug bekommen kann. Zeitlos, nahezu episch stellt dieser Track eine wunderschöne Liebeserklärung dar. Für Phonique darf es etwas poppiger seinem Remix mit einer starken Disco ähnlichen Bassline. Das Debut von Nick in seinem Call The Cops Remix fällt dagegen wesentlich ruhiger aus, fast schon experimental spielt er mit dem Vocal, dem unaufdringlichen Bass und seinen Flächen. Merengue scheint dagegen Lopazz im Kopf gehabt zu haben bei der Arbeit zu seinem Casio Casino to give us the Roofmix, ungewohnt klingt es aber eine schöne Art einen etwas anderen Remix zu machen. Das Original ist ein klassischer Popmusik Song mit angenehmen Jazzelementen.

Nôze's elegant Body Language mix featured some real gems from the all corners of the earth. One of those gems is their remix of Ornette's 'Crazy', a sensual, lively piece full of classical sounds and elegant vocal lines. These artists managed to capture the pure essence of the track in a bottle, and pour it smoothly over the dance floor.
If you could give it a texture, the Nôze extended remix has an almost creamy feel to it. Smooth and driving, this is a solid track and you should be prepared to hear it complete some of the higher quality DJ sets and mixes around the world (as you might have already heard on Body Language Vol 11).
Phonique is well known in Berlin for his residencies in Weekend and various remixes. His version of crazy pumps a deep disco vibe into the bassline and keeps the groove going. Pads rise and vocal lines open to bring crowd to their feet.
The 'Call The Cops Remix' marks Nick's very first release, and on Get Physical nonetheless. The remix reflects a deeper side of the track. With pumping bass and a deep kick, Nick takes it down a bit into dub territory. Perfect for Home listening, as well as any afterparty, the mix lures the audience into a dreamy state of mind and holds them with a groove that touches you deep inside.
When professional sound engineers produce a track you can hear the years of experience and love go into it. LOPAZZ takes a break from mastering and teams up with Casio Casino to give us the Roofmix, a mix of organic percussion and saucy groove.

KATER012 - NU - About Love

Der Kater ist manchmal schneller als man denken kann und so erschien am 17.Mai auf Katermukke mit NU - About Love bereits die Nummer 12 des Labels.

Konsequent gutes Arbeiten zahlt sich aus, denn auch Nu´s About Love EP ist absolut für die Katze, besser gesagt für den Kater und könnte es nicht besser haben als auf diesem Label zu erscheinen. Wie schon auf den Vorgänger Releases, befinden sich auch auf About Love  Tracks zum Augen schließen um auf der Tanzfläche träumend dahin zu schmelzen. Den Anfang macht La Sirena Negra, mit seiner verträumten Stimmung, bei dem man sich einfach nur geborgen und glücklich fühlen kann auf der Tanzfläche. Bei About Love wurde sehr kreativ gearbeitet, der Track fängt mit seinem Riff wie ein typischer Katerrummel Track an, ändert nach dem ersten Break die Richtung der Stimmung in einem flächigen verträumten Track um dann nach dem zweiten Break diese beiden Elemente harmonisch zusammenzuführen. Der Track Kleiner Prinz hat wohl den meisten Groove auf dem Release, aufgeweckt wie der kleine Prinz eben ist springen Bass und Percussion fröhlich vor sich hin. Doch das Schönste und mein Herz gewonnen hat der Track, als das vielleicht wichtigste und mein Lieblingszitat vorgetragen wird,Gänsehaut ist dabei garantiert. Auch der Abschluss Track Cielo wiederspiegelt, mit seiner entspannten Art, die wunderschöne und Glücksgefühle verbreitende Stimmung der gesamten EP.
Fazit:
Einfach bezaubernd, ein weiteres Release des Katers aus der Kategorie Großartig.

Trickski melden sich mit der Past Sense EP auf Soul Music zurück. Nach ihrem Longplayer, Unreality aus dem Jahr 2011, ist die EP ihre erste Veröffentlichung auf dem Label von Chopstick & Johnjon für 2012. Die EP ist seit dem 18.Mai im Handel erhältlich.

So viel lässt sich sagen, gelungen und abwechslungsreich fällt die EP aus. Da ist es auch kein Wunder, dass die Liste der DJs die diese Veröffentlichung supporten mehr als lang ist. From Above zum Beispiel, ist ein wunderschön harmonischer Track, mit all seinen Vorzügen, wie einem tiefen, dominierenden Bass oder dem liebevollem Vocal und den spacigen Samples, welche dem Track erst die richtige Stimmung verpassen. Dagegen ist Past Sense wesentlich rockiger, mit einer starken Fläche und ravigen Chords, also bestens geeignet für die Peaktime. Brazzavillage Dance Commando wiederum ist toolig und verspielt.
Fazit:
Wie schon erwähnt eine sehr abwechslungsreiche und gelungene EP, vor allem From Above und Past Sense gefallen sehr und sind Kandidaten um im Club oder auf dem Open Air die Bombe loszulassen.

Trickski is back on Suol for 2012 with 3 exclusive new tracks for your summer. After releasing
the very much respected longplayer "Unreality" last year the guys are back for more.
Starting of with "From Above" we have a beautiful summer slammer on our hands. Typical reduced Trickski groove with all the music, harmonies and vocal snipps you need to chill in the sun or let it rip on the floor.

"Past Sense" is the second to come but second to none. It seems like the guys looked up their skits from good old "Members Of The Trick" times... rave chords with laid back trickski grooves.

Acid House, so heißt der neue Trend der elektronischen Musik, dass haben die Leute von Get Physical ziemlich schnell begriffen, denn das neue Release von Lopazz und Alex Flatner, die Our Love EP, steht genau unter diesem Stern und ist ab dem 28.Mai käuflich zu erwerben.

Wie schon erwähnt, geht es bei dieser EP um Acid House und mit Lopazz und Alex Flatner scheint man sich genau die Richtigen in das Haus geholt zu haben. Der Titeltrack der EP, One Love zeigt uns wie man den Sound in die Neuzeit transportiert, der Track liebevoll ohne dabei kitschig zu klingen, poppig ohne dabei wie jeder x-beliebige Track zu klingen, Vocals die Spaß bereiten ohne dem typischen Maceo Plex Filter zu unterliegen und dazu ein großartiger nicht aufdringlicher Acid-Synthie. Sehr schöner Track mit absoluter Hitgarantie. Der Track Just a Memory, hat diesen wunderbaren Schleicherbeat mit sehr viel Tiefe, hier haben wir zwar den erwähnten Maceo Plex Filter, dafür aber auch eine starke Hymnen artige Melodie, die diesen Track trägt. 2Night ist mit seinem entspannten Beat auch der ruhigste Track der EP, dafür kann man Lopazz und Alex Flatner nur gratulieren, wie stark hier der Synthie ist und sanft eingerahmt in Flächen ist der Track ein schöner Abschluss für dieses Release.
Fazit:
One Love für mich ein absoluter Hitgarant, auf dem ich mich jetzt schon freue und der mit zwei weiteren gelungen Tracks ergänzt wird.

After producing ‘The Pleasure Principle’ Album with DJ T. and 2 ‘Ambient Film Themes’ albums as LOPAZZ &a Casio Casino, collaborations with M.A.N.D.Y and Gerd Janson from Running Back he is now continuing his classic-releases on Get Physical like ‘Share my rhythm’, ‘We are’ and ‘Migracion’ with ‘/Our Love/’. This time he´s joined forces again with Alex Flatner - the duo already released several E.P.´s on Poker Flat and Cocoon Records.

Alex Flatner runs his successful underground label Circle Music, works as an A&R manager for labels like Harthouse and Plastic City and is a highly regarded DJ. As a remixer he has created stunning versions of Gui Boratto’s ‘Atol’ , Terry Lee Brown Junior’s ‘Pulsar’ and Steve Lawler’s ‘Almerina’ to name but a few of many. From Reboot, Märtini Brös, to Joey Beltram, Alex has worked with many top respected names, including of course, studio master-mind LOPAZZ.

////The title track opens with a heavy kick groove and a thick jumpy bassline. LOPAZZ´ vocals are thrown in with the percussion to add to the atmosphere while leading the way to the walking organs. ‘Our Love’ takes a very sensual turn, but always maintains it’s firm composure. It will prove to be great mid set crowd pumper this summer. When making a fine sauce for any occasion, one has to /reduce/... the act of cooking things down to the bare essentials...
That’s exactly what LOPAZZ & Alex Flatner have done to produce ‘Just A Memory’...
Keeping a strong bassline, and sparse dirty synthlines to a staccato minimum.
‘2night’ displays the sensual sides of the two producers, favouring piano against strings and sweet vocals. Bring in a smooth sine and all is right with the world.

Am 12.Mai ist es soweit, Crosstown Rebels veröffentlichen das nächste Release auf Vinyl, WALKER & ROYCE - YOU'RE NOT WELCOME. Digital wird man allerdings bis zum 11 Juni warten müssen um die Track You’re Not Welcome, Stare If You Want und den Francesca Lombardo Remix auf der eigenen Festplatte speichern zu können.

Walker & Royce gehören fest zu Brooklyns House Szene und genau das hört man den Tracks an. Deepe düstere Synthies, eine dominate Stimme und zackige Perkussions. Klingt ein wenig nach Maceo Plex, ihr Track You´re Not Welcome aber eigentlich alle wollen so klingen zur Zeit. Ähnlich gehts in Stare If You Want zu, nur mit starken Disco Elementen und etwas poppiger. Der You’re Not Welcome Francesca Lombardo Remix klingt etwas deeper aber dem Orignal sehr ähnlich, anscheinend hat sich Francesca Lombardo hier auf die Freundlichkeit in dem Track konzentriert, denn auch der Synthie ist nicht mehr ganz so düster.
Fazit:
Typisches Crosstown Rebel Release, welches ziemlich nach Maceo Plex klingt und wahrscheinlich sind die Herren auch große Fans von ihm. You´re Not Welcome, ist spielbar allerdings von Tracks dieser Art, gibt es inzwischen genauso viel wie es Sand am mehr gibt und somit leider kein überraschendes aber dennoch solides Release.

Die bildhübsche Ausnahmeerscheinung Nina Kravitz veröffentlicht am 21.Mai auf Rekids Aus feat King aus on the mic. Natürlich enthält diese EP auch ein paar ausserordentliche Remixe.

Irgendwie sind die Tracks von Nina Kravitz immer mehr ein Kunstwerk als einfach nur Tracks. Auch hier reichen paar Percussions, eine Orgel, Vocal, Sub und ein Gitarren-Sample aus um sehr viel Harmonie zu erzeugen. Sie bricht in dem Track sehr geschickt mit dem Takt und setzt ihre Percussion teilweise in Synkope ein, das Ergebnis ist ein ausdrucksstarker Track. Wer auf Acid steht der freut sich sicherlich über das progressiv aufbauenden The Rhythm Odyssey Warehouse Tape Edit.  Der Matthew E “Radio Slave” Remix fällt in ein sehr kreativ verspultes Muster und DJ Qu verhilft den Track zum tanzbaren Deep House Sound.
Fazit:
Eine nicht unbedingt massentaugliche EP aber erfrischend anders als die meisten Releases die wir zur Zeit bekommen. Diese EP wird aber mit Sicherheit viele Freunde finden.

Auf dieser EP zu finden sind die beiden Original Tracks Worst Love und Thankful, sowie Worst Love Remixe von Doctor Dru und Fritz Zander. Released wird digital und auf 300 Kopien limitiert als Vinyl, also Sammlerfreunde aufgepasst.

Das Label OFF Recordings ist bekannt für seinen Deep House Sound, auch hier bleiben sie der Linie treu. Robosonic´s Worst Love bedient sich an alt bekannten Pop Samples und wandelt diese in einen gut gelaunten, sommerlichen Deep House Sound um, sehr gut tanzbar und DJ´s werden sich freuen, denn der Track ist sehr gut geeignet zum Mixen. Ebenfalls bestens geeignet ist der Track aber auch für einen ordentlichen Sommerhit. Doctor Dru verpasst der Kick in seinem Worst Love Remix etwas mehr Druck und einen kräftig, dominaten Synthie, nicht ganz so perkussiv wie das Original allerdings bekommt der Track eine ordentlich Tiefe in seiner Erscheinung. Hingegen läßt Fritz Zander in seinem Remix von Worst Love die Shaker sprechen und erzeugt damit ein sehr angenehmes Kribbeln in den Fingern, welches sich von dort aus über den ganzen Körper verteilt. Der letzte Track der EP Thankful ist ein wunderschön verspielter Track. Sehr viel Spaß macht es, wie hier mit den Percussions und Elementen von House gespielt wird. Da kann man eigentlich nur gute Laune bekommen.
Fazit:
Eine EP die bestens auf den Sommer vorbereitet ist, sehr viel gute Laune steckt hier in den Tracks. Unsere Favoriten sind eigentlich alle Tracks der EP, denn jeder hat auf seine Art das gewisse Etwas.
Auf jeden Fall eine EP die gute Aussichten hat ein amtlicher Sommerhit zu werden.

Am 18.05. erscheint die neue EP von Farbaromat auf Concorde Club Recordings, die beiden Berliner Matthias und Norman geben mit diesem Release ihr Debüt auf dem Label. Auf der EP sind die Tracks Flags und So:Ho, sowie ein Remix von Microtune & Takter zu finden.

Farbaromat gehören zwar definitiv nicht zu den Leuten die am Anfang ihrer Tracks gleich volles Rohr loslegen, wenn sich das Ergebnis allerdings so anhört, müssen sie es auch gar nicht. Flags baut sich Stück für Stück auf, eigentlich ganz harmlos und freundlich klingt es zum Anfang um dann mit einem gekonnten Stimmungswechsel, welcher den Hörer völlig überrascht, die Bombe platzen zu lassen. Ein Track der mit Sicherheit dieses Jahr auf der Tanzfläche noch so manche Arme in die Höhe gehen lassen wird. So:Ho im Original fällt etwas deeper aus als sein Vorgänger aber sehr schön wie verspielt Farbaromat mit der Fläche in diesem Track umgehen. Microtune & Takter sind die richtigen Leute wenn es emotional werden soll, in ihrem Remix von So:Ho schaffen sie eine sehr starke Tiefe mit viel Raum aus Klängen, der einen beim hören völlig zu umgeben scheint.
Fazit:
Favorit ist Flags, alleine wegen der überraschenden Wende die einen mit überzeugender Leichtigkeit packt, selten erlebt man, dass sich Künstler so etwas trauen. Die beiden anderen Tracks sind ebenfalls sehr schön geworden und dürften die Freunde von Deep House mehr als glücklich machen.

Den 29.Mai bitte rot im Kalender ankreuzen, denn da erscheint Alessio Mereu´s Those I’ve Left Behind EP auf Aman Records. Drei Original Tracks und ein Remix von Guido Schneider freuen sich auf die Tanzflächen der Welt.

Ich weiß gar nicht wann ich das letzte mal so ein gutes Release von Alessio Mereu gehört habe, Sommer, Sonne, Acid House steht hier auf den Fahnen geschrieben. Distraught Again hat alles was ein Track haben muss, deepen Sound und verspielt groovt der Track dahin während der Synthie die Führung. Wer bei diesem Track ruhig bleibt, der ist definitiv nicht empfänglich für den immer stärker aufkommenden Acid House Sound. Those I’ve Left Behind macht es mindestens genauso  richtig, nur mit etwas mehr Fläche und düsterer. Guido Schneiders Remix von Distraught Again läßt die Acid Elemente des Tracks zum tooligen Tech House werden und weil man irgendwie von dieser EP nicht genug bekommt legt Alessio Mereu mit I’m the Machine noch eine verspulten Tanzflächenschleicher dazu.
Fazit:
Wenn Mereu mit diesem Release keinen Hit landet, dann weiß ich auch nicht. Gerade von den Tracks Distrought Again und Those I’ve Left Behind kann man einfach nicht genug bekommen

Although Alessio Mereu had released a number of 12” EPs over the preceding years, last summer’s Tripolarity full-length was what really gained him international recognition. Now he’s known far beyond his Mediterranean shores, DJing around Europe and getting signed by veteran labels Cocoon and Poker Flat who have released some of his tracks over the past months. Last month, AMAM issued the Tripolarity Remixes 2x12” package, which brought new perspectives on the acclaimed album, but he hasn’t had an EP of original material this year. Now, AMAM is happy to change that with Those I’ve Left Behind.
“Distraught Again” is structured on subtly evolving percussion and a swaggery bassline, with drops of acid accentuating the tension. It echoes the kind of tracks produced back from before Mereu was even born, but with the kind of fidelity and precision tailored for contemporary club soundsystems. Guido Schneider (Highgrade Records) puts his own spin on “Distraught Again” by enhancing the staccato factor, focusing more on rhythmic interplay than the original version’s melodic leanings.
Elsewhere, “Those I’ve Left Behind” combines jacking beats with long, curving synth lines that evoke a menacing atmosphere, crescendoing into a climax where all the track’s elements get tangled into a hot mess. Finally, as a digital-only bonus, “I’m the Machine” continues the jacking flavor with a defiant, robotic beast that stomps onto the dancefloor. Front to back, Those I’ve Left Behind shows Alessio Mereu moving forward with his productions…

KATER011 Britta Arnold - Chicken Curry Katermukke

Der Kater Holzig ist nicht nur einer der beliebtesten Clubs in Berlin, auch das hauseigene Label Katermukke erfreut sich immer wachsender Begeisterung. Seit heute dem 07.05. ist nun die neue EP von Britta Arnold Chicken Curry inklusive Remixe von Lee Jones und Ruede Hagelstein erhältlich.

Warum das Label trotz seines noch jungen alters so beliebt ist erschließt sich ziemlich schnell, angesichts solcher Releases steigt auch bei uns immer mehr die Begeisterung. Das Original von Chicken Curry ist nicht nur deep sondern auch wunderbar verspielt, minimal in der Klangstruktur aber auch genau richtig um das Grinsen auf der Tanzfläche zu erzeugen. Der Lee Jones Remix ist ein schöner klar definiter Deep House Track, während sich Ruede Hagelstein in seinem Hospital Curry Remix auf die percussive Seite des Tracks konzentriert.
Fazit:
Großartiges Original von Britta Arnold, welches die zwei guten Remixe völlig in den Schatten stellt.

SYYK003 Soul Button- Shadows

Wir hatten bereits einiges über das noch junge Label Steyoyoke berichtet. Am 11.Mai erscheint nun digital das dritte Release, Vinylfreunde können sich freuen denn physicalisch ist Soul Button- Shadows bereits am 29.Mai erschienen.

Irgendwie scheinen die Herren von Steyoyoke,  bzw. Soul Button in diesem Fall, genau den Nerv der Zeit zu treffen. Schon der erste Track Shadows zeigt die Stärke des Releases, Deep House wie wir alle ihn momentan lieben, dazu eine verzerrte Stimme und ein zauberhaft klingendes Piano Riff, sehr deep und sehr schön. Der zweite Track Shine ist im Feature mit La Phoenix entstanden und zeigt die housige Seite von Soul Button, wie ein Sonnenuntergang am Strand trägt fängt dieser Track einen mit seiner Stimmung. Auch der Track Talking ist im Feature entstanden, Bartok half hier mit. Schon allein wie der Synthie bei Talking startet klingt verdammt cool, schön an diesem Track ist auch seine Entwicklung, wie er kaum merkbar immer ein kleines Stück mehr aufbaut, ein Track der auch auf dem Vorzeige-Label Diynamic eine wunderbare Figur machen würde und unser persönlicher Liebling. Wer es lieber ohne Stimme mag findet Talking auch in der Dub Version.
Fazit:
Wieder ein starkes Release von Steyoyoke welches man sich auch ohne Bedenken zulegen sollte.

An air of mystery surrounds the artist responsible for Steyoyoyoke's third release, titled 'Shadows'. The anonymous artist, given the name Soul Button, takes the helms for the label's May release, and as signs of summer emerge in Berlin, a three track EP comes to soak up the heat. An energetic and driving release equally fitting in a restless dance-floor or sun drenched terrace.
Soul Button is a new artist from Steyoyoke records, and we are excited to announce the artist's first release on the label. With each track bringing new flavour to the EP, you may find it hard to pick a favourite. Shimmering piano dubs, a bellowing male vocal and hints of a slide guitar comprise the title track and firmly sets the EP up for an exciting ride.
'Shadows' provides an instrumentally satisfying groove: an ideal tool for those brighter sets.
The cleanly produced track 'Shine' features vocals from singer La Phoenix and follows in flowing deep house fashion acting as a bridge for the EP. 'Shine' is a reclining tale of mellow grooves using subtle but up-lifting vocals to bring the track to life.
The huge third track 'Talking' features Steyoyoye artist Bartok. Led by a forceful and inescapable bass line, 'Talking' is a pumping dance-floor bomb. The occasional guitar glimmer adds an almost exotic element to the proceedings, and echoey synths and stringed chords help to drive it forward.

Dabei kann man eigenlich nur eines sagen, Ink ist die wohl schönste Tech House Ballade die ich in letzter Zeit, vielleicht sogar in den letzten Jahren zu hören bekommen habe. Von Anfang bis Ende des Tracks stellt sich ein wohliges Gefühl im Körper ein und die Gänsehaut hat sich schon lange nicht mehr so gut angefühlt, so dass man einfach nur die Augen schließen möchte um sich in diesem Track zu verlieren. Something Says setzt mit Leichtigkeit dieses Gefühl fort, ein warmer Bass der sich emotional ausbreitet, toller Text und genauso sieht es mit Awake aus, großartig emotional wie hier gearbeitet wurde.
Fazit:
Auch wenn man ganz stark die Einflüsse von Oliver Koletzki in dieser EP merkt, ist Stil Vor Talent mir dieser EP ein großartiger Wurf gelungen. Ein Sound der sich irgendwo zwischen Tech House und Pop befindet und damit Genregrenzen für nicht vorhanden erklärt. Sehr starkes Release, an dem man einfach nicht vorbei kommt.

Am 10. Mai erscheint die neue Crossfrontier Audio, produziert worden ist diese von Marc Poppcke & Luis Hill. Leap The Dark, The Hidden Dub, Beat That und ein Remix von Boss Axis werden sich auf der EP befinden.

Crossfrontier Audio ist mit dem siebten Release zwar noch ein recht junges Label allerdings ist gerade der erste Track Leap The Dark eine absolute Bombe, das ist Berliner Open Air Sound wie man es sich vorstellt, progressiv wird es und großartig wie der Track unermütlich voran treibt. Dagegen ist der Boss Axis Remix, wenn wir schon beim Thema Open Air sind, eher etwas für den sonnigen Nachmittag, weil er wesentlich liebvoller aber auch nicht so treibend daher kommt. The Hidden Dub ist ein wunderschön verspielter, grooviger Tech House Track, toolig aber genau richtig um auch als einzelner Track zu funktionieren.
Beat That greift die Stimmung des Releases auf und transport sie in einen deepen Sound, mit dem genau richtigen Maß an verspulten Elementen, dass dieser Track einem ein Grinsen in das Gesicht hämmert.
Fazit:
Großartiges Release, besser gesagt absolute Bombe.



With ‚The Hidden Dub EP’ we are honored to present the first collaboration of label head Marc Poppcke and
Berlin newcomer Luis Hill. Luis is the second man behind Crossfrontier Audio and first of all responsible for
the press and booking department. Furthermore, he’s also a really talented DJ who enjoyed many European gigs
in the last year. You should definitely keep an eye out for him in the future!

As both Marc and Luis work together every day, it was only a matter of time until their collaboration extended to
the studio. The duo is a combination of Marc’s more melodic solo productions and Luis’ preference for clear
percussions and strong bass lines. The result? Three deep and dance floor oriented tracks with a powerful groove
for the prime time of the night.

The cherry on top is served by Boss Axis in the form of a remix of ‘Leap in the Dark’. The German duo from
Suhl is well known for their releases on Solee’s Parquet Recordings and their distinctive melodic style. They
reduce the original to its minimalistic elements and then rebuild the track, adding great amounts of harmony and
passion.

All in all another demonstration of how Crossfrontier Audio tries to avoid musical genres, while keeping
listeners alert and curious. This EP should not be missing in any DJs bag.
